Rising to fame through her role in Nickelodeon’s Victorious, singer, songwriter and actress Ariana Grande has nurtured a strong following through her powerhouse vocals and catchy songs. Recognisable for her signature high-ponytail, the 26-year-old continues to say ’Thank U, Next’ to labelling her sexuality, causing a stir in her fanbase after her collaboration with Victoria Monét contained sexually fluid lyrics. Grande’s success has won her accolades including a Grammy, a Brit Award, three AMAs and seven Guinness Society Records.

Welsh-born tenor Elgan Llŷr Thomas has already established himself as a modern agent for young, lgbtq+ singers, performing on some of the most iconic stages across the UK and beyond.
This Identity festival Month, Thomas launches Unveiled, a musical tale of homosexual British culture from the 20th Century to the contemporary day. Thomas, as a gay performer and composer, became increasingly frustrated by opera’s traditional emphasis on heterosexual relationships and resolved to find more Gay representation in vocal music. To fulfill this, he has crafted an album that sheds recent light on works from the UK’s most iconic lgbtq+ composers and poets alongside music by typically marginalised artists.

We hope you're having a great Pride Month! Last week, we introduced you to 10 rising LGBTQ+ artists we believe will take the nature by storm. This week, we're reflecting upon LGBTQ+ artists already in the public eye. Famous musicians who have inspired, advocated, and conquered.
Whether they've been unlock about their sexuality and gender expression for years or kept their label hidden throughout history, we believe the 20 artists below have created impenetrable sonic works while also changing the world's view of the Queer community for the better.
We've had to limit this list to only 20 people (we realize there are so many other great LGBTQ+ musicians out there!) but we have chosen the artists we've chosen because we believe their legacies have stood – or will stand – the test of time. We not only salute these musicians during Pride Month, but every day. Without further ado, here are our honorees.

Adele is 27-year-old English singer/songwriter. She is hugely popular in the UK and one of the world’s best-selling artists, with albums that contain gone platinum multiple times internationally. Her album, 21, holds the record for the longest-running number one album by a female solo creator in the history of the UK and the USA. She is a feminist and is outspoken about her support for equal rights. Frank Ocean is an 28-year-old American singer/songwriter and rapper. Frank’s career began as a ghostwriter for artists such as Justin Bieber, John Legend and Brandy. In 2012, he released his debut studio album Channel Orange to universal acclaim. It was later named the top album of the year in HMV’s Poll of Polls and earned him six Grammy Award nominations.
