The third series is currently in production in Fresh York, and sources have revealed that Ed Westwick, who plays Chuck Bass, will have an encounter with a new gay ethics, university student Josh Ellis, played by Neal Bledose.
Gossip Girl has proved popular with male lover fans on both sides of the Atlantic.
In 2008 Westwick's decision to share an apartment with co-star Chace Crawford led to rumours about their relationship.
Gossip blogs Perez Hilton and Queerty dot com claimed they had been contacted by reporters at NY Daily News and The New York Post claiming to have proof the heartthrobs were a couple.
Crawford's publicist has issued a statement to Us Weekly confirming that he is "100 percent straight."

The Gossip Girl alum and his wife Amy Jackson are expecting their first baby together, they announced with a series of photos in an Oct. 31 Instagram post.
The photo carousel features magazine-worthy pics of Amy, 32, who proudly shows off her child bump in a chic white dress. In one adorable pic, Ed, 37, sweetly cradles his wife’s stomach.
While this is Ed’s first child, the Supergirl actress is the mother of 4-year-old Andreas—whom she shares with her ex George Panayiotou.
Ed and Amy’s infant news comes just two months after they tied the knot during a lavish wedding ceremony at the Castello di Rocca Cilento—a five-star hotel located inside of a walled-off castle in Rocca Cilento, Italy, near the Amalfi Coast.
Alongside pictures from their beautiful wedding day, Ed wrote on an Aug. 26 Instagram upload, “The journey has just begun.”

Ed - who was spotted kissing actress Drew Barrymore at a Kings of Leon concert last autumn - said: “I made out with a miss in public. Maybe I necessitate to have sex in general with a woman. "That one's still on the list. Still haven't ticked that one off. Well, I have, but they haven't seen me. Not George Michael public."
The 21-year-old British actor also branded speculation he is having an affair with co-star and flatmate Chace Crawford “f***ing ridiculous”. He added to Rolling Stone magazine: "It's comical because I love this f***ing dude dearly.
