Charlotte Gay Andrews, age 75, of Cleveland, Texas passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022. She was born January 14, 1947, in Houston, Texas to parents Noah and Evie Whitener who preceded her in death along with her husband, Charles Ray Andrews.

Survivors include her daughters, Allison McClain McCowan and Nancy Elaine McClain-Collins; step-daughter, Melissa Guy; daughter-in-law, Kristin McClain; sons, Jay Halford McClain and James J. Andrew McClain; step-son, Charles Andrews; sons-in-law, Travis McCowan and Dean Collins; sister, Nancy Laura Mays; brother, James Clark Whitener; grandchildren, Victoria Maria McClain, Camden McClain, Andrew “Drew” McClain, Jack McCowan, Taylor, Adam, Bryce, Weston McClain, Grace McClain, Maggie McCowan, Kolton Collins, Kameron Collins, Forrest Andrews, and Baliegh Andrews; great-grandchildren, Yasaih Mexicano, and Christian Mexicano, Jr.; other survivors, Caren Dodd, Rachel Dodd, Ryan Dodd, Garett Dodd, Liam Dodd, Willow Dodd, and Rory Dodd; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Historic gay-friendly Andrews Inn documentary filmmakers to hold chat on May 22

Vermont Roadside Historic Site Marker commemorating the Andrews Inn — and Hotel Windham on contrary. It was moved 15 feet to a more prominent location on Oct. 11, 2023.

The iconic Andrews Inn was a gay-friendly bar and hotel that was open from 1974 to 1984 in downtown Bellows Falls.

Local independent filmmaker Heather Holloway of Letter H Film & Media, and local historian Gail Golec, of The Secret Life of Death podcast, will discuss their recent documentary project at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 22 at the Rockingham Free Public Library, 65 Westminster St. in Bellows Falls.

The inn was designated as a historic landmark by the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation as part of the National Park Service LGBTQ Heritage Initiative in 2017. The team will present a brief history of the inn, discuss their vision for the project and conclude by opening the floor to questions or memories of the inn.

This event is free and open to the public. It will take place in the third-floor meeting room, which is handicap accessible.

July 23, 1936 ~ March 25, 2016

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt Barta Gay Andrews, 79, passed away on Friday March 25 2016 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born July 23 1936 in Manilla Utah daughter of Charles and Wanda Greenhalgh Potter.  She was raised and educated in Green River Wyoming.

On February 1, 1957 Barta married Wayne Edward Andrews in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Following her marriage to Wayne they lived in several states, including Rapid City, South Dakota and Santa Maria, California, after which they moved to North Ogden, Utah where they lived from 1971 until the hour of her death.

Barta was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in numerous callings.

Barta was a devoted season ticket holder of Weber State University Men’s Basketball. Barta was a dedicated volunteer at the McKay Dee Hospital where she spent her Fridays for the last thirty five plus years; as well as being employed at Weber State University book store.  In spite of her busy schedule she always had second for her family and friends. Sandra Gay Andrews

Sandra Queer Andrews, 52, passed away, Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at her home in Broken Bow. Sandra was born, July 19, 1964 in Fort Rucker, Alabama, the daughter of Joe Stricklin and Peggy Cain.  She enjoyed fishing, camping, doing crafts and spending time with her family.

Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Kendrick; her father, Joe Stricklin and brother, Mark Stricklin.

Her memory will be forever cherished by her children, Joshua Kendrick and Zachary Kendrick of Broken Bow and Kelli Nichols of Company, Alabama; her mother, Peggy Cain of Broken Bow; brothers, Henry Stricklin and Nathan Stricklin of Enterprise, Alabama; sisters, Wanda Bacorn and husband Ron of Broken Bow and Kay Catrett of Broken Bow; unique friends, Aubrey Perry, Kathleen Stofregen and Stacy Dorey; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
